Shazam!
Shazam is directed by David F. Sandberg. This movie is also one of the best movies released by WB. In this movie, After being abandoned at a fair, Billy constantly searches for his mother. His life, however, takes a huge turn when he inherits the superpowers of a powerful wizard.
My Thoughts: The DC universe got off to a rocky start with a few dud films but Shazam! was a refreshing origin tale about one of DC's most powerful heroes, Shazam. It was joyful, funny, emotional, and had great special effects. I found the mixture of childlike innocence and horror themes quite unique and it's a film for almost all ages. The acting is top-notch, even from the kids, and it was a funny, smart script. The best part of the film was definitely when Billy and Freddy were exploring what powers Shazam had and it made me start to think, I'd probably have done the same at their age! The story itself isn't anything unique, it's a typical superhero origin story but with some Harry Potter-like elements chucked it, but it does it all very well. I give it an 8/10.
